The year-round Kidney Cars Program, which accepts the donation of used vehicles, offers another alternative to those interested in giving a gift without coming up with out-of-pocket funds. Almost all cars are accepted - running or not - provided the donor has a clear title. For tax purposes, donors receive a letter acknowledging their gift. They must however, consult a tax advisor for details regarding their specific situation. Vehicles are sold either at auctions or for parts, with 70 percent of the proceeds supporting the work of the National Kidney Foundation of Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming.
